Poetry in the most expressive language in our country is how I would describe MD Greyling’s music…
I got the opportunity to review his second album ‘Binne My’ and while listening to it I realised something I haven’t thought about in a long time – how privileged I am to be able to understand Afrikaans!!!
His melodies are smooth and his lyrics are sheer pleasure to listen to!!!
A bit soft overall, this album is definitely for those who wish to have a quiet moment by themselves or a social gathering like a ‘braai’ with friends, rather than a wild night out. (Nothing wrong with that however!!!)
‘Binne My’ is easy to listen to and there is no doubt in my mind that this album will find its way into many homes and hearts!!!
Not many artists can vocalize their poetry in lyrics as clearly as MD Greyling does, and he does it well!!!
I find that good lyrics often go unheard as it’s drowned out by a lead or rhythm guitar, Greyling doesn’t seem to have that problem!!!
So if you are a poet at heart, a romantic, or simply a fan of good Afrikaans music, this artists’ work must definitely find its way into your hands!!!
